I just watched President Obama’s state of the union address to congress. As it should have been 2/3 of his address focused on the economy. It is the key issue for everyone. He also acknowledged deep and corrosive doubts to how congress works. It is clear he wants to change the way Washington does business, change the tone of his critics. What are your thoughts about the President’s State of the Union Address?

I am so glad that President is getting back to the foundation that got him elected in the first place. I became really accident when he spoke about giving a part of the bail out money that was paid back to small community banks to open up lending to small businesses. He has the right idea when he spoke of creating programs that will help our country create new jobs especially in the green sector.

I believe the President was on point with the direction Congress needs to take in creating a Job Bill that will put people back to Work in 2010. He also talked about distributing that $30 bil bailout money to local banks to help put small business owners back on the playing field. However, the President kept getting caught up in the Partisanship quips and his constant barrage of antics regarding the fighting that goes on between Dems/Repubs. I think he spends a lot more time obsessing about something that will not change in his Administration so better time spent on what He can Change! He won’t change politics as usual in 4 years but He can change America for the better and leave office as being a President known for the Greater Good of all Americans. Daniel never bickered with the lions in the den, he just believed in a God bigger than the lions who could shut their mouths.

Hi Bishop,
I think President Obama is on target. Jobs is what will help stimulate the economy and get this country moving forward. The unfortunate thing is that too many employers have taken advantage (wrongly) of the recession to “downsize” which left many undeserving people unemployed. From the business prospective, I do understand that move however, it has left far too many people without jobs which have led to loss of homes, etc. How does that help the bottom line when people can’t feed their families? With that said, again I believe that focusing on getting people back to work will help get this country back on its feet.
Peace and blessings,
